Training, Liveability and Rural

Richie Thornton, LJ Hooker Tamworth
My current Portfolios on the Franchise Council are Training, Liveability and Rural.
Together with my wife Robyn we purchased L.J.Hooker Tamworth in 1987.We commenced with a team of four and have grown the business to a team of twenty. Tamworth is a vibrant Regional City with a direct population of 42,700 people. Significant growth occurred in the late seventies and  2000 to 2007.
We are actively involved in the Residential, Commercial and Rural Property markets both Sales and Property Management. We have gained significant experience in all facets of Property Management including Shopping Centres and Government Buildings, which makes us a very diverse Real Estate Agency.
We grew the business on the back of strong professional ethics, service, systems, excellent marketing, team development and a total commitment to Exclusive and Auction Listings. We have received various Auction Awards, including Top Auction Listing Office and Top Auction Lister and I have personally auctioned in excess of 2,000 properties.
Challenges to the growth of L.J.Hooker Tamworth have predominantly been droughts and economic downturns.Like most areas there appears to be a regular ten year economic cycle between the lows and the highs with the challenge being to keep income up in tight economic times. We have consistently beein in the top 10% of all L.J.Hooker Offices and at times the top 6%.
Going forward I am buoyed by the vision of the LJ Hooker Board to see us regain the Number One Real Estate Agency mantle in Australia and New Zealand. I am confident that if everyone buys into this vision it can be achieved.
A willingness to help my fellow franchisees ultimately saw me seek out Membership of the Franchise Owners Council Committee. I have always taken a global and not just local view of all important issues, knowing that what is good for the majority will also be good for the minority. l  also take great pleasure in being able to resolve Franchise Owner issues amicably because after all, that is one of the main reasons The Franchise Owners Council exists. I see my Portfolios as being crucial to the success of our vision to regain the Number One spot.
I look forward to my commitment to work hard for all Member Offices in Northern New South Wales and welcome new offices. Remember “Your Council ,Your Voice,Together we can make a difference”.
